Spring semester and academic year courses will resume on January 11. Classes will end during the week ending with May 7.
Classes will not meet on the week of March 15 for spring break.

Our instructors do their best not to cancel a class. However, we cannot control the weather, internet outages, or illness. In the event of a class cancelation, instructors will provide an alternative assignment for that day. Alternative assignments may include a recorded lesson, independent work reviewed in the next course, or a makeup class which they will record for those unable to attend.
Blue Ridge classes will meet weekly for 16 weeks per semester. Academic year course will meet for a total of 32 weeks across both semesters.
All classes are taught live by an instructor using Google Meet, a video conferencing platform similar to Zoom. Students must sign in to Google Meet to attend their classes. For the best experience, we strongly recommend using the Google Chrome browser.
Blue Ridge instructors use Google Apps to support instruction. Students are required to use Google Classroom to receive assignments and submit their work.
A computer with a webcam, microphone, and speakers.
Google Account with the ability to use Google Apps, Google Meet, and Google Classroom.
No. Our core class instructors will email family grades within three weeks of the end of each semester. Each family should keep record of student work and student grades.
Instructors will use Google Classroom allowing parents to track student work and grades in real time.
Elective courses will not provide a grade.
We classify middle school age students as students completing course work intended for sixth through eighth grade or students age 11 to 14.
High school courses are designed for students completing ninth through twelfth grade coursework, typically ages 14 to 18. In some cases, younger students (ages 12½ to 13) may be capable of handling high school-level work.
Enrollment in a high school course should be based on a student’s ability to complete the work independently, rather than age. The key consideration is readiness and capability to succeed in high school-level coursework.
In addition to tuition payments for courses, there is a required registration fee.
Annual Registration Fee
A non-refundable registration fee per student, per year is required. A discount is available for families registering three or more siblings—please email for additional information.
This fee supports the ongoing operation of Blue Ridge Homeschool. Our primary expense is required liability insurance coverage. It also helps cover essential overhead costs such as website hosting, administrative needs, and shared educational resources when applicable.
Registration fees are paid to Blue Ridge Homeschool and are used to support the infrastructure and resources that make our program possible.
Course fees reflect the dedicated instruction your child will receive. Our teachers take on significant responsibilities including teaching at least one 55 minute class per week (many classes often longer or multiple times per week), lesson planning, Google Classroom prep, grading, and communicating with students and parents. Many instructors have set rates below minimum wage and agreed to a per-student, per-class fee.
Blue Ridge Homeschool is not a co-op. Parents are not required to volunteer or participate beyond supporting their own child. Our instructors serve as tutors for small group classes, supplementing the learning you provide at home.
We would be happy to accept a donation for our organization once we become a 501(c)(3) organization.
At this time, Blue Ridge Homeschool does not have a scholarship fund. We hope to offer scholarships in the future once we have officially secured nonprofit status and established support from donors.
Registration fees are due by the registration deadline for the fall semester or at the time of registration for spring only students or late registration. Registration fees must be paid prior to registering for classes.
Tuition for year-long classes can be paid in three installments for your convenience. A nonrefundable deposit is due in June or upon registering to reserve your child’s spot in class. The remaining balance will be divided into two equal payments, each due three weeks before the start of the semester. Please note that payments become nonrefundable after the listed semester due dates. You are also welcome to pay the full balance at any time.
Single semester classes are billed in full and due three weeks before the first day of the start of the semester.
Tuition fees are nonrefundable after the last day to pay for each semester.
Tuition may be paid by check and mailed to Blue Ridge Homeschool Association. Online payment options may also be offered depending on the instructor. A service charge will be added for PayPal payments.
We are currently in the process of completing the requirements to become a nonprofit organization and expect to receive official status by the fall.
Blue Ridge is a Christian organization intended to serve the community and fill a need for online courses. Welcome students and families of all beliefs who choose to participate ino ur coures, and we do not require a statement of faith from students or parents.
All teachers and leadership team are Christians. All instructors are required to affirm their faith.
Student safety is our top priority. Keeping cameras on helps staff confirm attendance and maintain a secure learning environment.
Cameras also support effective teaching by allowing teachers to see nonverbal cues, check understanding, and stay connected with students in real time.
Students will be asked once to turn their camera on if it is off. If the camera is not turned on or is turned off again, the student will be removed from the lecture.
Only the registered student may be visible on camera during class time. This policy helps us maintain a safe and secure learning environment by ensuring we can identify who is participating.
It also protects student privacy by limiting what others can see from your child’s camera.
To support a safe and focused learning environment, please consider what is visible through your child’s camera. A simple setup—such as facing a plain wall without distracting or inappropriate items—is recommended.
Choose a quiet area where your child can մասնակցate without interruptions, and ensure family members are aware of class time to avoid walking through the background. This helps maintain privacy and minimizes distractions for all students.
