Each week, the teacher will introduce new concepts, review the previous week’s lesson, and complete 1–3 pages of the current lesson in class. For homework, students will hunt for and correct errors in daily passages that tell an ongoing story. This process helps students apply new grammar knowledge and transfer those skills into their own writing.
This course is Level 3 and is appropriate for middle school students. The Fix It! Grammar series is foundational, and Institute for Excellence in Writing (IEW) recommends that students begin with the first book, The Nose Tree. However, most middle school students should be able to master the concepts at this level.
Students attend a weekly live class that includes direct instruction. Classes are recorded if a student needs to miss a session, though regular attendance is strongly encouraged for the best experience. While this course itself is not formally graded and assignments are not collected, occasional quizzes will be used to assess students’ mastery of skills.
This course includes 30 lessons, meeting once a week for 55 minutes each session.
Total Class Fee: $120 per year
In total, students will attend 30 classes (55 minutes each). This breaks down to just $4.00 per class.
In addition to the instructor’s fee, this cost also helps cover the tools and resources needed to run the course, such as Google Workspace, training, instructors guides, and other necessary tool.
Class fees can be paid in three installments for your convenience. A nonrefundable deposit is due in June to reserve your child’s spot in class. The remaining balance will be divided into two equal payments, each due three weeks before the start of the semester. Please note that payments become nonrefundable after the listed semester due dates. You are also welcome to pay the full balance at any time.
